Abstract: Alex Seal is a PhD student within the Sociology department at the University of Surrey. He is also a graduate tutor within the department teaching on research methods and social theory undergraduate modules. Alex's research interests centre on the choices students make within higher education, and his PhD explores why UK students choose to study abroad. He is also interested in issues of objectivity and subjectivity within research methodology. Alex welcomes readers to contact him to discuss his article, or wider research interests.
