La filosofía del lenguaje de Anselmo de Aosta (finales del s. XI) ha sido objeto de vivo interés por parte de historiadores de la lógica y de la semántica que la han interpretado como una anticipación de teorías más tardías o contemporáneas. Las interpretaciones más recientes han corregido esta interpretación excesivamente actualizante. Aquí trataremos de delinear la contribución de Anselmo a la historia de la semiótica, a través de la reelaboración de la filosofía de Aristóteles (mediada por Boecio) y la semiótica de Agustín, al poner de manifiesto la dimensión pragmática del uso de los signos y del lenguaje. |

The philosophy of language of Anselm of Canterbury (late XIth century) has been the subject of keen interest from historians of logic and semantics who have often interpreted it as anticipation of later or contemporary theories. More recent research has corrected these excessively actualizing interpretations. In this article, I'll try to outline the contribution of Anselm to the history of semiotics, through his reception of Aristotle's philosophy of language (mediated by Boethius) and Augustine's semiotics, showing a decidedly pragmatic twist, often appealing to the use of signs and language. |
