The Avedis Donabedian Research Institute (FAD) - Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) is a multidisciplinary research institute on Quality and Safety in Health Care and Social Care. Since 1989, the Institute has been conducting education and research activities in the areas of Health Care, Social Care, Patient-centred Care, Quality Improvement, Patient Safety, and Patient Empowerment.
Our mission is to work with professionals, organizations, governments, communities, legislators, health care providers, citizens, stakeholders, and other public and private organisations to improve the quality of social and health care that society receives. We firmly believe that teamwork and joint knowledge identify us as an innovative and value-generating institute in Social and Health Care systems.
Our academic activity includes a Postgraduate and a Master’s degree in Management and Methodology of Quality and Safety in Health Care, with more than 15 face-to-face editions and currently conducting 5th online edition. These offer a broad and comprehensive programme, based on real experiences of implementing methodologies to improve quality and patient safety.
