Geologica Acta

The Túnel de la Atlántida (Lanzarote, Canary Islands) is the world's largest submerged lava tube, formed by the La Corona eruption during the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM). This study reconstructs the Late Pleistocene-Holocene sea-level and paleoenvironmental changes preserved within the tunnel through an integrated sedimentological, petrographic, mineralogical (XRD, SEM-EDS), stable-isotope, and geochronological (U-Th, 14C) framework. This paper presents a micro- to nanoscale investigation of Ni-Co-Fe sulfarsenides from the stockwork mineralization of the Filón Norte-Tharsis deposit in the Iberian Pyrite Belt (IPB). Micron-scale single-spot analyses and X-Ray mapping by Electron Probe Micro-Analyzer (EPMA) of zoned gersdorffite (NiAsS)-cobaltite (CoAsS)-glaucodot (CoFeAsS) crystals reveal varying amounts of Co (25. Iberia and its oceanic margins provide evidence of a large rift system developed in three phases: i) late Permian-Middle Triassic, ii) Late Jurassic, and iii) Barremian-early Albian. These rifting events were coeval with the opening of the Alpine Tethys, the North-Atlantic, and the Bay of Biscay domains, respectively. [...]

The Sant Corneli Anticline is an asymmetric, westward-plunging structure located at the termination of the Boixols Thrust (Tremp Basin, Spanish Pyrenees). It was emplaced during the Late Cretaceous and generated an elongated, westward-deepening foredeep basin. [...]
