Falsificación
Las estadísticas publicadas el 31 de mayo por la Comisión Europea ponen de
manifiesto que el número de artículos falsificados o pirateados incautados
en las fronteras exteriores de la UE en 2006 aumentó significativamente, a
pesar de que la actividad de las autoridades aduaneras nunca ha sido tan
intensa. Se efectuaron más de 36.000 incautaciones, lo que supone un aumento
del 40% con respecto al 2005. Los funcionarios de aduanas incautaron más de
250 millones de artículos falsificados o pirateados en el 2006 contra 75
millones en el 2005 y 100 millones en el 2004. Estas falsificaciones siguen
haciéndose sobre grandes cantidades de medicamentos, cigarrillos y otros
productos susceptibles de perjudicar seriamente la salud de los
consumidores. La modificación de los itinerarios que utilizan los
traficantes para comercializar los productos de imitación, el recurso a
Internet y el transporte de pequeñas cantidades de mercancías por vía aérea
o postal son factores que dificultan aún más el trabajo de los aduaneros.
