The Severo Ochoa centers discuss dissemination at 100XCIENCIA
During the first day of the forum plenty of panel discussions, outreach seminars and talks by first level representatives of the different centers took place. CSIC Prof. Pedro Gómez-Romero, Group Leader at ICN2 and science disseminator, underlined that for an effective dissemination of science it is important that we all enjoy during the process.
How does the Titanium Oxide promote water oxidation in Hematite-based photoanodes?
Obtaining Hydrogen through water splitting may have broad energetic implications. Researchers from the Catalonia Institute for Energy Research (IREC), with ICREA Prof Jordi Arbiol’s Group at ICN2, recently published in Energy & Environmental Science a systematic mechanistic study of the origin of the Titanium-induced enhanced photoactivity in Hematite-based photoanodes.
Horizontal magnetic tunneling in a field-effect device integrated on Silicon
The choice for energy-efficient technologies is not a matter of price choice but it is slowly turning into a matter of heat. A work recently published in Nature’s Scientific Reports suggests devices fabricated directly on Silicon with magnetic tunnel junctions governed by electric pulses, which means without current and minimizing the problem of overheating.
Encapsulated bacteriophages for enhanced oral phage therapy
Encapsulated bacteriophages are more resistant to the stomach low pH and increase their residence time in the intestinal tract of broilers. The research, published in Applied and Environmental Microbiology, was conducted jointly by the UAB Group of Molecular Microbiology, led by Dr Montserrat Llagostera, and the ICN2 Supramolecular NanoChemistry and Materials Group, led by ICREA Professor Daniel Maspoch.
