MY NAME

WERE meaning “God of Grace.

My grandfather named me so though I do not know why.

WERE is more of a masculine name. In our entire family, we are only two females called so; my auntie and myself – No other. I believe it is a very special name and I was a special child who needed a befitting name being the first of my mother and father.

I believe it comes with strength and blessings. On several occasions, people around me will complain why I get special privileges – may be the secret is in the name with its spiritual connotations.

Sometimes my husband is called Mr. Were, and he gladly responds.

I think I am satisfied with the name, although at school I was always the last on the school register, very few persons have names starting with ‘W’. So it is a unique name and I feel exalted.
