Abstract

This pack is aimed at any member of staff in higher education who is interested in improving their teaching and enhancing student inclusion, success and learning. It has been designed to be used flexibly by different staff groups and individuals. New and relatively inexperienced teachers in higher education, and any member of staff engaged in the support of student learning, will find it particularly relevant to their needs. It has been written bearing in mind staff undertaking university programmes which lead to an award in teaching or academic practice. It contains practical advice on making teaching, learning and assessment inclusive and contains video clips of staff sharing their thoughts on the topic. The main aim of the guide is to help teachers in higher education improve their actual teaching practice from an inclusive perspective. This aim arose because many of those interviewed said that they found implementing inclusion the most challenging part of their work and they were hungry for ideas on how to translate the rhetoric of policy into practice.
