Abstract:	O presente artigo analisa a argumentação de Platão sobre as paixões. Em Íon, Platão propõe as paixões como algo poético, belo e necessário ao homem, na República como aquilo que tira o homem do caminho da razão, fazendo-o perder a fortaleza; por isso o filósofo defende o banimento dos poetas de sua república. É válido ressaltar que A República é um dos textos que mais reflete a origem aristocrática de Platão. O objeto de análise aqui são as paixões em dois diálogos, um socrático (Íon) e um da maturidade do filósofo (A República) que apresentam abordagens diferentes.
Abstract:	This article analyzes Plato's arguments regarding passions. In Ion, Plato proposes that passions are something poetic, beautiful and necessary to man, in The Republic something that takes man away from the path of reason, making him lose his strength. That is why the philosopher defends the banishment of poets from his republic. It is worth noting that The Republic is one of the texts that best reflects the aristocratic origin of Plato. The object of analysis proposed here are the passions in two dialogues: a Socratic (Ion) one and another of the philosopher's maturity (The Republic).
