Abstract:	In the academic, professional and popular institutionalization of the physical education in Europe, manifested during throughout the XIX century and the beginning of the XX century, Spain centralized a considerable attention to events beyond its borders. Spain tried to set examples and to import foreign models. The doctrinal and technical discussions about this issue caused an infinite number of allusions in the press, in specialized magazines and pedagogical and gymnastics literature. Thus during the first third of the XX century, the first studies about comparative physical education were presented. The description and interpretation of these documents enable us both to assess the impact and to understand the influence that the foreign education systems exercised in Spain.
Abstract:	En el proceso de institucionalización académico, profesional y popular de la educación física en Europa, que se manifestó a lo largo de todo el siglo XIX y principios del siglo XX, España centralizó una considerable atención a los sucesos más allá de sus fronteras. A falta de poseer un sistema propio de educación física, como sucedía en otros países, España trató de exponer ejemplos e importar modelos extranjeros. Las discusiones técnicas y doctrinales sobre esta cuestión conllevaron una infinidad de alusiones en la prensa, en las revistas especializadas y en la literatura pedagógica y gimnástica. Asimismo durante el primer tercio del siglo XX se presentaron los primeros estudios sobre educación física comparada. La descripción e interpretación de estos documentos nos permite valorar su impacto y conocer, también, la influencia que ejercieron en España los sistemas de educación física extranjeros.
