Abstract:	El artículo propone una lectura distinta a la habitual de los actos de conmemoración del tricentenario de Lope de Vega, argumentando que las posiciones ideológicamente más separadas comparten una visión parecida de Lope basada en subrayar los componentes extraliterarios de su figura y su rol simbólico. Frente a esta imagen de Lope que se convirtió en la hegemónica en 1935, existe otra que reivindica a Lope ante todo como creador literario y busca despojarlo de lecturas instrumentales.
Abstract:	The article proposes a fresh interpretation of the commemoration of the tercentenary of Lope de Vega (1935) arguing that ideologically separate intellectuals share a similar vision of Lope based on stressing extraliterary components and highlighting his symbolic role. This is the image of Lope that became hegemonic in 1935. But there is another perspective that claims to understand Lope primarily as a literary creator and seeks to strip him of instrumental readings.
