Abstract:	El artículo presenta las conclusiones de una investigación realizada para identificar las competencias básicas que los alumnos debieran dominar al término de la escolaridad obligatoria. Se ha llevado a cabo con la participación de Catalunya, Islas Baleares e Islas Canarias, dentro de la Fundación de Regiones Europeas para la Investigación, Educación y Formación (FREREF), mediante la triple técnica de análisis de los currícula, vaciado de investigaciones sobre el tema y consulta a la sociedad. Los resultados muestran un total de 217 competencias correspondientes a los ámbitos matemático, social, lingüístico, tecnocientífico y laboral, abarcando tanto conocimientos como habilidades y actitudes. De todas ellas las competencias al ámbito laboral han sido las más valoradas por todos los colectivos consultados.
Abstract:	This article presents the conclusions of research intended to identify the basic competences that pupils ought to have acquired by the end of compulsory schooling. This research was undertaken with the participation of Catalonia, the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands under the aegis of the European Regional Foundation for Research, Education and Training (FREREF). The procedure was threefold: analysis of curricula, examination of research on the subject, and social surveys. The results showed a total of 217 competences relating to mathematical, social, linguistic, techno-scientific and labour aspects in terms of both knowledge and abilities and attitudes. The groups consulted all placed the highest value on work-related competences.
