Abstract:	La creciente violencia que muestran los medios informativos es objeto de preocupación e interés social. Con frecuencia se acusa a los medios de provocar el "morbo" por el único motivo de incrementar los índices de audiencia. Pero el concepto de "morbo" contiene significados amplios e imprecisos. El objetivo del presente estudio es (re)construir el significado de este concepto en la contemplación de la violencia grave contenida en los informativos de televisión. Para ello se analiza el discurso generado en 16 grupos focales tras el visionado de 4 videos que mostraban noticias violentas. El análisis muestra que la dimensión curiosidad e interés frente a enfermedad y maldad está estructurando el discurso, y que los espectadores destacan los efectos positivos y legítimos que se pueden atribuir tanto a la "mirada" como a las escenas. Se apunta a la funcionalidad de una mirada con interés no condenable para conseguir los efectos positivos de la emisión de imágenes violentas.
Abstract:	The increasing violence broadcasted by the media is subject of concern and social interest. Hard emissions frequently raise the accusation toward the mass media of fostering a morbid curiosity in the audience just to raise audience ratings. But the concept of morbid curiosity includes wide and imprecise meanings. The object of this paper is to (re)construct the meaning of morbidity and morbid curiosity in relation to the watching of serious violence in TV News programs. 16 focus groups have been object of discourse analysis after the viewing 4 videos of a violent piece of TV news. The analysis shows that the dimension of curiosity and interest vs. illness and evil is structuring the discourse; and the participants highlight the positive and legitimate effects that can be attributed to the "gaze" on violence as much as to the scenes. "Watching" with interest is necessary to get the positive effects of the broadcasting of violent images.
