Abstract:	There is a tendency to mix up fashion and style in discussions on the current period style, springing from the fleeting and fragmentary character of mediatic texts and the multiplicity ofrevivals, mixtures and returns of genre. In this paper we intend to differentiate both operating modes, starting from a proposition of Walter Benjamin's where fashion is acknowledged as an expression of basic fractures in different stages of culture.
