Abstract:	En este artículo analizo las fotografías de homicidios de jóvenes publicadas en la nota roja de dos de los diarios de mayor circulación de la capital del estado de Veracruz-México. Me concentro en el análisis semiológico de cómo se tematiza la violencia hacia los jóvenes para reflexionar en torno a los marcos ontológicos y epistemológicos en los que se encuadra la vida y le otorga reconocibilidad a lo humano. Muestro cómo el lenguaje visual ofrece pistas para reconocer las normativas sociales que separan lo humano de lo no-humano que contribuyen a justificar estos hechos garantizando su continuación e impunidad. Asimismo, doy cuenta del importante papel que tiene la prensa en producir verdades mediáticas que legitiman la idea de que los jóvenes son responsables de la violencia generalizada así como de las agresiones de las que son objeto.
Abstract:	In this article I analyze photographs of youth homicides published in the yellow journalism section of two major newspapers in the state capital of Veracruz, Mexico. I focus on the analysis and the discussions surrounding youth and the violence enacted on them to reflect on the ontological and epistemological frameworks in which the lives of youth are stratified into our societies as being what defines the human condition. I showcase how visual language can offer clues and insight into recognizing the social norms that separate what is considered human and non-human. Such distinctions ultimately contribute to the justification of these acts of violence and, furthermore, guarantee their continuation and impunity. Within this view, I highlight the important role that the press plays in mediating truths that legitimize the idea that young people are responsible for the violence and aggressions which they are subject to.
