Representación corporal en un pueblo indígena de México

Abstract:	Al analizar las múltiples connotaciones que los huaves conceden a la palabra ombas, el presente artículo examina la forma en que las representaciones del cuerpo otorgan sentido a la jerarquía civil y al sistema ceremonial de San Mateo del Mar, un pueblo indígena de la costa oaxaqueña. La convergencia entre el modelo social y el modelo cosmológico no se produce en los huaves como un puente entre el acto y su representación, sino más bien como una equivalencia de sentidos que se van generando en los desplazamientos semánticos de las palabras y las categorías.
Abstract:	Through the analysis of the diferent connotations that the Huaves confer to the word ombas, this article examines how corporal representations give sense to the civil hierarchy and to the ceremonial system in San Mateo del Mar, an indigenous village of the Mexican coast. The articulation linking the social and the cosmological models does not produce a bridge between act and representation, but an equivalence of meanings between the words and their semantics developments.
