Abstract:	La consideración negativa de las pasiones no pareció afectarle excesivamente a Santa Teresa, porque, puestas por Dios en el alma, cree que son estímulos divinos para que el alma se dinamice y vivifique. Tampoco se deja vencer por la melancolía o la acedia la santa, sino que deja que los espíritus fluyan del corazón al cerebro, encauzando las emociones de la «república» del cuerpo y facilitando su labor a la imaginación, la «loca de la casa», que se sublima intelectualmente, a medida que el alma va ascendiendo por las moradas. La imaginación y la memoria, así, son para ella complementarias de la meditación intelectual y la oración.
Abstract:	The negative view of the passions did not seem to affect Saint Teresa excessively, since she saw them as divine stimuli placed by God within the soul, through which the soul could be more dynamic and vital. Nor did the saint allow herself to be overcome by melancholy or spiritual apathy, but -rather- she allowed the spirits to flow from the heart to the brain, channelling the emotions of the «republic» of the body and thereby facilitating the task of the imagination, that «crazy woman of the house», which transforms itself intellectually in accordance with the soul's ascendance through various abodes. Imagination and memory are therefore, for Saint Teresa, wholly complementary to intellectual meditation and prayer.
