Resumen:	El objetivo de este artículo es analizar la función de las imágenes de las plantas terribles en la novela El día de los trífidos de John Wyndham. Para tal fin, la teratología vegetal nos permite dilucidar la configuración narrativa del caos en la novela, los temores que surgen tras la Segunda Guerra Mundial y los órdenes políticos que se establecen tras la amenaza de la extinción. Por consiguiente, este artículo indaga en cómo el pensamiento vegetal ha sido omitido de la estructura narrativa en favor de un terror vegetal. El artículo está divido en tres partes. La primera parte es un estudio sobre las dos posturas del pensamiento vegetal para dilucidar de qué manera la novela El día de los trífidos omite la semántica vegetal para construir una narrativa de terror. La segunda parte propone que el terror vegetal estructura la idea de caos en la novela. La tercera parte interpreta la afirmación de la existencia humana a partir del control de la agencia vegetal. Como conclusión, la novela de Wyndham explicitará que la configuración de la civilización requiere, necesariamente, del establecimiento de un orden entre las especies: un orden en el que el ser humano se establece como agente rector de las dinámicas y la existencia.
Resumen:	The objective of this article is to analyze the function of the images of terrible plants in John Wyndham's novel The Day of the Triffids. To this end, plant teratology allows us to elucidate the narrative configuration of chaos in the novel, the fears that arise after World War II and the political orders that are established after the threat of extinction. Consequently, this article investigates how plant thought has been omitted in the narrative structure in favor of a plant terror. The article is divided into three parts. The first part is a study on the two positions of vegetal thought to elucidate how the novel omits vegetal semantics to build a horror narrative. The second part proposes that the vegetal terror structures the idea of ​​chaos in the novel. The third part interprets the affirmation of human existence from the control of the vegetal agency. In conclusion, Wyndham's novel will make explicit that the configuration of civilization necessarily requires the establishment of an order between species: an order in which the human being is established as the governing agent of dynamics and existence.
