Resum:	Among the many places on the North Pontic coast that were related to Achilles in antiquity, the White Island or Leuke has attracted most scholarly attention, because substantial literary and epigraphic sources suggest that it was the main cult centre of Achilles in the Black Sea. ¹ The archaeological remains of a big temple, now unfortunately lost,² and the large number of votive objects found at the site, support this idea. However, it was not the only cult place of Achilles in this region, for we know that there were other sacred spaces along the northern shore of the Black Sea where the Achaean hero was worshipped in antiquity: the sites of Beykush, Berezan, Olbia, Kinburn and Tendra provide evidence of this local veneration in a wide time frame, from the late Archaic period to the Roman times.
