| Abstract: |
Love, and its relation to the reproduction and maintenance of women's oppression, have interested feminists since the beginning of the last century. Feminist and critical perspectives have helped to denaturalize love and to highlight its socio-cultural construction. Contemporary feminist approaches to love take into account the complexity of the phenomenon and demonstrate that women are not mere victims of romantic ideology; rather, that they are located among contradictory discourses and power relationships. In this article I aim to further explore the resistance strategies of feminist activist women in response to love narratives. Using Narrative Production methodology, I have identified five different resistance strategies. The first three respond to mainstream narratives of love while the other two respond to feminist narratives of love. |
