In the first half of the I st century A. D. the Latin poet M. Manilius wrote out a poem on astrology entitled Astronomica. Before the XI th century neither a direct nor and indirect evidence of its survival existed which can be considered really trustworthy; however it is possible that this hexametric poem influenced the works of some medieval authors, as other more famous and testified Latin authors did, through not yet well known channels. Maybe among those medieval authors can be numbered the poet Venantius Fortunatus (535/603-4 A. D. ). |
