Si entendemos junto a Ponnau, Grivel, Mellier o Soldini entre otros, lo fantástico como «sentiment», y junto a Belville (2013) la apariencia paradójica, proteica y mutable de lo monstruoso como figura indisociablemente ligada a los relatos de lo extraño y las narrativas de lo inquietante, partiré de dos ejemplos de hibridación monstruosa inter-especie para analizar de qué manera el cine fantástico contemporáneo recurre a lo vegetal como «entre-dos» o «monstruosidad intersticial» (Veliz, 2021). Understanding along with Ponnau, Grivel, Mellier or Soldini, among others, the fantastic as «sentiment», and together with Belville (2013) the paradoxical, protean and mutable appearance of the monstrous as a figure inextricably linked to the stories of the strange and the narratives of the disturbing, I will start from two examples of monstrous inter-species hybridization to analyze what, in this way, contemporary fantastic cinema resorts to the vegetal as «between-two» or «interstitial monstrosity» (Veliz, 2021).
