Skeletal muscle regeneration by muscle satellite cells is a physiological mechanism activated upon muscle damage and regulated by Notch signaling. In a family with autosomal recessive limb‐girdle muscular dystrophy, we identified a missense mutation in 1 (protein O ‐glucosyltransferase 1), an enzyme involved in Notch posttranslational modification and function. 11 p, 2.5 MB Late Holocene tectonic implications deduced from tidal notches in Leukas and Meganisi islands (Ionian Sea). / Evelpidou, N. (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Faculty of Geology and Geoenvironment) ; Karkani, A. (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Faculty of Geology and Geoenvironment) ; Pirazzoli, P. A. (Paolo A.) (Laboratoire de Géographie Physique (Meudon, França))
In this paper the tectonic behavior of Leukas and Meganisi islands (Ionian Sea) is examined through underwater research carried out in both islands. A possible Late Holocene correlation between coseismic subsidences is attempted and evidenced by submerged tidal notches in both islands. [...]

Departament d'Enginyeria Electrònica) ; Martín, Ferran, (Martín Antolín) (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament d'Enginyeria Electrònica)
In this paper, different configurations of transmission lines loaded with stepped impedance resonators (SIRs) are reviewed. This includes microstrip lines loaded with pairs of SIRs, and coplanar waveguides (CPW) loaded with multi-section SIRs. [...]

11 p, 640.5 KB Presenilin/γ-secretase and inflammation / Saura Antolín, Carlos A. (Carlos Alberto) (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Bioquímica i Biologia Molecular)
Presenilins (PS) are the catalytic components of γ-secretase, an aspartyl protease that regulates through proteolytic processing the function of multiple signaling proteins. Specially relevant is the γ-secretase-dependent cleavage of the β-amyloid precursor protein (APP) since generates the β-amyloid (Aβ) peptides that aggregate and accumulate in the brain of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) patients.
