Department of Geology) ; Shahosinie, Elham (Islamic Azad University. North Tehran Branc. Department of Geology) ; Nazarinia, Asma (University of Hormozgan. Department of Geology) ; Lentz, David R. (University of New Brunswick. Department of Earth Sciences)
The Chenar volcanic cone intruded the southeastern part of the Dehaj-Sarduiyeh volcano-sedimentary belt, in the southeast Urumieh-Dokhtar magmatic arc in Iran. The adakitic rocks, with porphyritic texture, mainly consist of rhyodacites and dacites, commonly comprised of phenocrysts of plagioclase, hornblende and biotite, with rare K-feldspar in a groundmass composed of plagioclase, K-feldspar and quartz. 17 p, 7.5 MB Age of the basement beneath the Mesozoic Lusitanian Basin revealed by granitic xenoliths from the Papôa volcanic breccia (West Iberia) / Pereira, M. F. (Universidade de Évora. Instituto de Ciências da Terra) ; Gama, C. (Universidade de Évora. Instituto de Ciências da Terra) ; Silva, J. B. (Universidade de Lisboa. Departamento de Geologia) ; Dias da Silva, Í. (Universidade de Lisboa. Departamento de Geologia)
The dyke of the Papôa volcanic breccia cross-cutting the Lower Jurassic sequence of the Lusitanian Basin (West Iberia) contains granitic xenoliths. In this study, for the first time, U-Th-Pb zircon analysis of two xenoliths yielded 298 ± 4 Ma for biotite granite and of 292 ± 2 Ma for two-mica granite, indicating that the pre-Mesozoic basement of the Lusitanian Basin includes Permian intrusions. [...]

The scheelite skarn from Los Santos and the W-Au veins from El Cabaco district, located in the Spanish Central System Batholith (SCSB), are some of the best-known tungsten ore deposits in Spain. Uraninite is an accessory mineral in both deposits, which underwent several hydrothermal flow events. [...]

Departamento de Geología) ; Romer, R. L. (Deutsches GeoForschungsZentrum (GFZ)) ; López-Plaza, Miguel (Universidad de Salamanca. Departamento de Geología) ; Gónzalez Sánchez, M. (Instituto de Recursos Naturales y Agrobiología de Salamanca)
Basic to intermediate high-K, high-Mg mantle-derived rocks occur throughout the Iberian Massif and are particularly important in the Tormes Dome, where vaugnerites form several stocks and small plutons. [...]

7 p, 265.0 KB A revised Ordovician age for the Miranda do Douro orthogneiss, Portugal. Zircon U-Pb ion-microprobe and LA-ICPMS dating / Bea, Fernando (Universidad de Granada. Departamento de Mineralogía y Petrología) ; Mntero, P. (Universidad de Granada. Departamento de Mineralogía y Petrología) ; Talavera, C. (Universidad de Granada. Departamento de Mineralogía y Petrología) ; Zinger, T. (Russian Academy of Sciences. Institute of Precambrian Geology and Geochronology)
The Miranda do Douro orthogneiss was believed to be the oldest magmatic rock of the Central Iberian Zone, on the base of a U-Pb discordia upper intercept of 618 ± 9 Ma. Nevertheless, new ion-microprobe and LA-ICPMS U-Pb zircon dating revealed that the crystallization age was 483 ± 3 Ma. [...]
