25 p, 3.7 MB Terahertz nonlinear optics of graphene : from saturable absorption to high-harmonics generation / Hafez, Hassan A. (Universität Bielefeld. Fakultät für Physik) ; Kovalev, Sergey (Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf) ; Tielrooij, Klaas-Jan (Institut Català de Nanociència i Nanotecnologia) ; Bonn, Mischa (Max-Planck-Institut für Polymerforschung) ; Gensch, Michael (Technische Universität Berlin. Institut für Optik und Atomare Physik) ; Turchinovich, Dmitry (Universität Bielefeld. Fakultät für Physik)
Graphene has long been predicted to show exceptional nonlinear optical properties, especially in the technologically important terahertz (THz) frequency range. Recent experiments have shown that this atomically thin material indeed exhibits possibly the largest nonlinear coefficients of any material known to date, paving the way for practical graphene-based applications in ultrafast (opto-)electronics operating at THz rates. 9 p, 815.9 KB Asymmetrically coupled resonators for mass sensing / Márquez, Salomón (Institut Català de Nanociència i Nanotecnologia) ; Alvarez, Mar (Institut de Microelectrònica de Barcelona) ; Plaza, José A.. (Institut de Microelectrònica de Barcelona) ; Villanueva, Luis Guillermo (École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne) ; Dominguez, Carlos (Institut de Microelectrònica de Barcelona) ; Lechuga, Laura M (Institut Català de Nanociència i Nanotecnologia)
Mechanically coupled resonators have been applied in the last years to the development of nanomechanical mass-sensors based on the detection of the different vibration modes of the system by measuring on a single resonator. [...]

We investigate the feasibility of activating coherent mechanical oscillations in lasing microspheres by modulating the laser emission at a mechanical eigenfrequency. To this aim, 1. 5%Nd3+:Barium- Titanium-Silicate microspheres with diameters around 50 lm were used as high quality factor (Q>106) whispering gallery mode lasing cavities. [...]

6 p, 322.7 KB Estrategias y argumentos en el estudio descriptivo de la asociación usando microordenadores / Batanero Bernabeu, Carmen ; Estepa Castro, José Antonio ; Díaz Godino, J.
In this work, problem solving procedures about statistical variables association using microcomputers are analysed. The effect of several didactical variables on these procedures is also studied. The studied population consisted of 18 prospective teachers who had been previously trained for 7 weeks. [...]

A low-cost, portable, video-camera system built by University of Bristol for the UK-DRA, RARDE Fort Halstead, permits in-field acquisition of terrestrial hyper-spectral image sets. Each set is captured as a sequence of thirty-one images through a set of different interference filters which span the visible spectrum, at 10 nm intervals: effectively providing a spectrogram of 256 by 256 pixels.
