10 p, 1.6 MB Production and separation of value-added compounds from pine wood using pyrolysis and biorefinery techniques / Mora Sanjuan, Mireia (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Química) ; Fàbregas, Esteve (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Química) ; Céspedes Mulero, Francisco (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Química) ; Bartrolí i Molins, Jordi (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Química) ; Puy Marimón, Neus (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Química)
Value-added compounds were obtained from pine wood bio-oil, converting it into a renewable source for several chemicals: acids (acetic acid), sugars (levoglucosan), furan derivatives (furfural) and phenolics (catechol, phenol, 4-propylguaiacol, vanillin). [...]

The conversion of carbon dioxide (CO) into value-added chemicals and fuels, preferably using renewable energy and earth-abundant materials, is considered a key priority for future energy research. In this work, a bias-free reactor device for the solar-driven conversion of CO to synthesis gas (syngas) has been developed. [...]

Departament d'Enginyeria Química, Biològica i Ambiental) ; Sanchez, Antoni (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament d'Enginyeria Química, Biològica i Ambiental)
The abundance of organic solid waste throughout the world has become a common issue that needs complete management at every level. Also, the scarcity of fuel and the competition between food and substance as an alternative to a petroleum-based product has become a major problem that needs to be properly handled. [...]

30 p, 364.4 KB Ramsey taxation in the global economy / Chari, V. V. ; Nicolini, Juan Pablo ; Teles, Pedro
We study cooperative optimal Ramsey equilibria in the open economy, addressing classic policy questions: Should restrictions be placed to free trade and capital mobility? Should capital income be taxed? Should goods be taxed based on origin or destination? What are desirable border adjustments? How can a Ramsey allocation be implemented with residence-based taxes on assets? We characterize optimal wedges and analyse alternative policy implementations.
