Interculturalidad, traducción y mediación cultural en la Era Meiji : Okakura Kakuzô y El libro del Té

Abstract:	El objetivo de este artículo es analizar el texto, contexto y pretexto de una de las obras representativas del discurso Nihonjinron a principios del siglo XX: The Book of Tea, de Okakura Kakuzô, uno de los autores/traductores japoneses pioneros de los estudios interculturales y de la divulgación de los conceptos y valores de la cultura japonesa en Occidente. Okakura escribió The Book of Tea en inglés, por lo que se considera una "autotraducción". El autor traduce y reinterpreta el ritual Zen de la ceremonia del té para los lectores occidentales, en una época donde la cultura japonesa se conocía muy poco fuera de Japón.
Abstract:	The aim of this paper is to analyse the text, context and pretext of one of the representative work of the Nihonjinron discourse at the beggining of 20th century: The Book of Tea, by Okakura Kakuzô, one of the Japanese authors/translators who pioneered intercultural studies and the dissemination of the concepts and values of Japanese culture in the West. Okakura wrote The Book of Tea in English, so it is considered a "self-translation". The author translates and reinterprets the Zen ritual of the tea ceremony for Western readers at a time when Japanese culture was little known outside of Japan.
