Aquest treball està centrat en De Institutione primorum monachorum, del carmelità Felip Ribot. A partir d'una múltiple autoria apòcrifa, pretesament compiladora, aquesta obra de final del segle xiv té l'objectiu primordial de vincular històricament i espiritual l'orde carmelità a una geografia perduda, el mont Carmel. Aquest espai, lligat al profeta Elies i també a la Verge Maria, a la Vella i a la Nova Aliança, serà també expressió d'unes expectatives messiàniques. Ribot, doncs, s'ha d'incorporar per mor d'aquesta obra a una literatura apocalíptica molt present en la cultura medieval tardana, especialment viva en la Corona d'Aragó i que trobarà ressò en els programes iconogràfics de l'època. |

This paper focuses on De Institutione primorum monachorum by the Carmelite Felip Ribot. With a multiple apocryphal authorship, and supposedly compilatory, this late-fourteenth-century work has the primary objective of historically and spiritually linking the Carmelite order to a lost geography: Mount Carmel. This space, linked to the prophet Elijah and also to the Virgin Mary and the Old and the New Covenant, is also meant to be an expression of messianic expectations. Ribot, therefore, should be incorporated through this work into an apocalyptic literature that had a strong presence in late medieval culture, especially in the Crown of Aragon, and which finds an echo in the iconographic programmes of the time. |
