El presente trabajo se integra en la perspectiva histórica de la Fraseología para ofrecer una descripción semántica, morfosintáctica y discursiva de una locución adjetiva con larga tradición en español: de armas tomar. Para ello, se analizan testimonios recopilados en cuatro bases de datos textuales. Por un lado, el corpus epistolar, compilado por el grupo de investigación Sociolingüística de la Universidad Jaume I, y el Corpus Diacrónico del Español, de la Real Academia Española, reúnen documentos de diferentes tipologías en épocas pretéritas (1400-1974). Por su parte, el español contemporáneo (1975-2020) se examina por medio de otros dos corpus académicos: el Corpus de Referencia del Español Actual y el Corpus del español del siglo XXI. La profundidad histórica y tipológica de los textos contribuye a desentrañar en qué contextos se introdujo preferentemente el sentido figurado de la locución y junto a qué referentes se ha ido empleando a lo largo de la historia. La tarea se completa con la consulta de los diccionarios que alberga el Nuevo Tesoro Lexicográfico para corroborar si el empleo que se hace de la locución en los testimonios recuperados coincide con el significado que se ofrece en estos y, por tanto, si el uso real y el discurso normativo han ido (o no) de la mano a lo largo de la historia. |

The present study aims to contribute to the historical perspective of Phraseology to provide a semantic, morphosyntactic and discursive description of the idiom de armas tomar, which has a long history in the Spanish language. For this purpose, real testimonies have been analysed from four textual databases. On one hand, the epistolary corpus, compiled by the Sociolingüística research group of the Universitat Jaume I, and the Corpus diacrónico del español, of the Real Academia Española, bring together documents from earlier times (1400-1974). Contemporary Spanish (1975-2020), on the other hand, is examined by means of the other two academic corpora: Corpus de referencia del español actual and Corpus del español del siglo XXI. The historical and the typological richness of the texts help to clarify in which contexts the figurative sense of the idiom was introduced and with which referents it has been used throughout history. Likewise, the dictionaries contained in the Nuevo tesoro lexicográfico are consulted to corroborate whether the use made of the expression in the testimonies recovered coincides with the meaning given in them and, therefore, whether the real use and the normative discourse have gone (or not) hand in hand throughout history. |
