Los cultivos transgénicos como tema emergente en Guatemala y Venezuela

Resum:	En los últimos años el tema de los cultivos transgénicos ha sido ampliamente tratado; la bibliografía y publicaciones difundidas así lo demuestran. Con base en la revisión de fuentes hemerográficas y el posterior análisis de la información, el objetivo de este trabajo fue conocer los actores que han intervenido, en Venezuela y Guatemala, en el debate público sobre los cultivos transgénicos, y en función de su posición y particular forma de participación, identificar el nivel de polémica y los posibles conflictos entre los distintos actores. Para el caso de Guatemala, se concluye que la definición de una postura de gobierno que permita el desarrollo de un marco legal que avale, regule o prohíba el cultivo de transgénicos, resulta una tarea difícil, debido a que se necesita alcanzar un consenso entre posturas antagónicas. En el caso de Venezuela, se observa que el debate público se enfatizó en momentos en los cuales se estaban generando importantes instrumentos legales para proteger la diversidad biológica. Muchos conflictos de intereses se encuentran estrechamente asociados al tema de los transgénicos en estos dos países, situación que, sin importar la postura que se tome respecto a los mismos, está generando una problemática compleja.
Resum:	In the most recent years the development and later impulse attain by the transgenic crops has been the object of a large international debate, specially in countries in which the extensive or intensive implementation of this sort of crops it's the goal, different kinds of publications are proof of this. The review of hemerographic information and its later analysis is presented here; with the only purpose to allow a fare approach in time and space of the different actors involved in the public debate, in the particular case of Venezuela and Guatemala. It was possible to locate these actors by means of the position and type of participation, all this allow the identification of the level of polemic and possible conflicts between actors. In the Guatemalan case, the accomplishment of a legal instrument that authorizes, regulates or prohibits the transgenic crops, it's complicated because there no commitment between antagonistic postures. In the other hand, in Venezuela there was a peak in the public debate at the time when it took place the development of an important legal instrument concerning the protection of the biological diversity. These two countries exhibit different conflicts of interests related to the transgenic crops debate, condition that by it self generates a complex problematic.
