Due to the unexpected defeat in Adrianople, the emperor Gratian was forced to search for a new augustus capable of handling the eastern provinces. The chosen one was Theodosius I, and few could have imagined then that he would leave a deep mark in History, which makes even more remarkable the scarce attention that his wives, Flaccilla and Galla, have received.

[...] Friar Guilermus de Tous, author of the work Lumen de Lumine, is one of the many medieval authors from which little is known and much is there to discover. The few biographical data we have of him allows us to locate him in the Aragonese Crown between the second half of the fourteenth and the first quarter of the fifteenth, that is, in a crucial moment for the interreligious relations in the Iberian Peninsula. Los Perfumes en el Cristianismo
/
[...] In several religions, pleasant smells -perfumes- play an important role in the rites and in the liturgy, during meditation and in the prayers, while communing with the divinities. Christianity did not keep aside from this practice but infused it with a new signification. [...]

Mística e Paidéia : O Pseudo-Dionísio Areopagita
/
The author who presents himself as Dionysius the Areopagite, the converted by Saint Paul on the Areopagus was probably a syrian monk who wrote in the late V century. This article, dicussing the contemporany attempts to find his identity and the influence on the posterior thought, interprets his writings as an attempt to assimilate the greek philosophy and paideia by christianity, representing an important moment in the process symbolized by the Saint Paul's journey to Athens.

[...] The Late Antiquity is certainly one of the most important periods for the understanding of our civilization and its culture. Cradle of the Christianity and of that that would come to be the western Christian civilization, for we restrict ourselves to the Latin world, it is in this period that appears and it takes body, or else properly our material structures, in our great measure mental structures, once we owed to the Christianity and its main current of thought of this time, the Patristic, the essential not only of our religious credo, but even of the genesis in our way and thought reason.
[...] Augustine's reflection on time, from the level of individual salvation and the transcendence of the heavenly city located from the beginning on Earth, able to characterize or shape of medieval culture, but it is also clear that the expectations generated apocalyptic positions - better known as millenarian sects - and the Gnostics did not fail to weigh heavily in the collective imagination that went through the end of the Roman Empire and the so-called Middle Ages.
