ACCEDES-El acceso y éxito académico de colectivos vulnerables en entornos de riesgo en Latinoamérica

On October 30th and 31st, in regional meeting about education for all organized by UNESCO, political figures like ministers, vice ministers and governmental agents have agreed in Lime several engagements related to equity, inclusion and educational quality.

This declaration has arrived a year later than ACCEDES Project has signed their own declaration in Lima on October 9th in 2013. Rectors, vice rectors and other university agents who are involved in ACCEDES Project, had agreed to look after their vulnerable groups promoting policies, strategies and specific programs as well as becoming institutionalized this actions and giving continuity to the activities started within the framework of ACCEDES Project. This Lima Declaration had 13 other universities joint, who weren’t in the Project, on 31st october this year in the context of the Congress University and Vulnerable Groups made in Veracruz city (Mexico). The institutions that signed Lima’s Declaration were: Fórum Mundial de Educação, Instituto Profesional Duoc UC, Universidad de Alcalá, Universidad de la República – Uruguay, Universidad de Antioquia, Universidad Pedagógica de Durango / ReDIE, Universidad de Occidente, Instituto Federal de Brasilia, Secretaria Estadual de Educação de São Paulo, Universidad de Santiago de Chile, Unan-León, Nicaragua, U. Nacional Hermilio Valdizan and  Universidad de Tarapacá.

This connection between both declarations reveal the real need of working together for equity and for reducing inequities; and it’s also proving the importance of the development of this kind of research like ACCEDES. Nowadays, in our network society, it’s mandatory the cooperation between organizations that have common goals.
