Abstract:	En este ensayo se argumenta que las relaciones de sucesos formaron parte de un fenómeno paneuropeo que abarcó la prensa impresa desde sus comienzos a finales del siglo xv, constituyendo uno de los primeros casos emblemáticos la carta de Colón, impresa en Barcelona en 1493 y publicada luego en seis países diferentes. Se pone de relieve el hecho de que, fuera del caso español, se haya estudiado muy poco la primera prensa europea, y se señala como obstáculo a su reconocimiento como fenómeno internacional el hecho de que el género del panfleto noticiero no goce de un término común, por más que, a finales del siglo xvi, el de relation se comenzase a imponer precisamente como tal.
Abstract:	This paper argues that relaciones de sucesos -Spanish single event news pamphlets- formed part of a pan-European phenomenon that took in the press from its beginnings at the end of the 15th century, with Columbus's letter, first printed in Barcelona in 1493 and then in six different countries, constituting one of the most striking early instances. The point is made that, apart from the Spanish case, the earliest European press has been studied very little, and it is suggested that one reason for that is the fact that early news pamphlet do not benefit from possessing a common generic term to describe them, even though, from the end of the 16th century, the term relation began to be recognized as such.
