Among the countless innovations media strategies are forever offering us, the multiscreen device deserves to be rescued from the process of trivialization that its indiscriminated use is promoting. The cinematographic application of this system, whose history is long but not very vigorous, allows for this rescue operation, since in the movies the simple aesthetics of impact that proliferate in other media acquire the dramaturgic and narrative density needed to fill the device with meaning. The cinematic multiscreen recovers ancient painting techniques filtered through a variety of avantgarde procedures in order to construct a new and complex system of representing time and space relationships in the present, thus allowing us to foresee the potential of a postcinema increasingly immersed in digital culture. |
