Abstract: Since 1968, when Roland Barthes signed its death certificate, the concept of author has occupied -with few exceptions- a subsidiary position in the Spanish academia: from the textual outside to which Literary Theory has left it behind, to the sobering outside to which philological and hermeneutics tradition has put it into. Then, it is necessary to enquire into the statements that maintain both exclusions -maybe supportive- in order to explore other readings about literary authorship that, without standing by the traditional attributes, account for its function and survival in the contemporary cultural scene. To accomplish that, this thesis proposes a series of dialogues with some of the signatures that have contributed to rethink what an author is. This way, José-Luis Diaz, Nathalie Heinich, Dominique Maingueneau, Peggy Kamuf, Jacques Derrida, Michel Foucault or Roland Barthes himself meet here in order to help us to unfold the conceptual net that supports the modern and contemporary authorship, and to evoke the tensions that pierce it and that allow addressing it as a structure in deconstruction. By means of the analysis on different authorization strategies of the literary creator -from divination to paratopic marginalization- I pretend to show how this sets a position against the negative therms of a series of binary oppositions like originality vs. reproduction, inner being vs. corporeal nature; presence vs. representation, autonomy vs. heteronomy, etc. Focusing on the dyad that opposes singularity and community, I try to demonstrate the symbolic exclusion upon which the authorship is established as a subject-position, suggesting a conceptual frame to think on the hierarchies of gender that implies and exploring the constitutive relationship with that it denies, exemplified in the dependency between signature and renown, property and alteration, unity and dissemination, authority and recognition, uniqueness and substitution, corpus and body or inner being and performance. Subsuming both questions, I lastly explore the chance of the literary authorship in the media and its links with the concept of celebrity. Understood as a cultural artefact of collective genesis, the signature and the authorial image "Clarice Lispector" shows us how community creates singularity and singularity founds community, in a case that at the same time makes an example out of the implicit (de-)authorization involved in these processes when they put on scene a gendered authorship in feminine.
