Resum:	Der in den letzten Jahren wiederentdeckte und zu einem internationalen Bestseller gewordene Roman aus dem Jahr 1947 wirft das Problem auf, ob Widerstand gegen eine Diktatur eine moralische Pflicht ist und ob auch erfolgloser Widerstand einen Sinn hat. Unter Einbezug von Karl Jaspers Die Schuldfrage (1946) und Bernhard Schlinks Vergangenheitsschuld (2007) versucht der Artikel, die Antwort des Romans auf eine der brisantesten Fragen zur NS-Zeit zu rekonstruieren.
Resum:	The novel Jeder stirbt für sich allein (Alone in Berlin) from the year 1947, which has been rediscovered and has become an international bestseller in recent years, raises the question about resistance against dictatorship being a moral duty and unsuccessful resistance making any sense. Including the works of Karl Jaspers Die Schuldfrage (1946) and Bernhard Schlink Vergangenheitsschuld (2007) the article tries to reconstruct the answer given in the novel to one of the most burning issues about the years of Nazism.
Resum:	La novela Jeder stirbt für sich allein de 1947, redescubierta en los últimos años y convertida en un éxito internacional, plantea el problema de si la resistencia contra una dictadura es una obligación moral y si la resistencia fracasada tiene sentido alguno. Haciendo referencia a las obras Die Schuldfrage (1946) de Karl Jaspers y Vergangenheitsschuld (2007) de Bernhard Schlink, el artículo intenta reconstruir la respuesta de la novela a una de las cuestiones más candentes sobre los años del nacionalsocialismo.
