Abstract: |
The paper focuses on the characteristics of reading and on the role of the reader in hypefiction. The paper uses as interpretative grid the one exploited by postmodern narrative which consists of a number of rhetorical tools such as the garbage axiom and the labyrinth challenge (Musarra- Schroeder 1996), the dichotomy between Model Author and Model Reader (Eco 1994) and the combinatorial calculus acclaimed by the Oulipo movement and affirmed by Calvino as the author's writing strategy, and the reading agreement between reader and author which results from such a combinatorial structuring. With this interpretative grid we will analyse a sample collection of hypefictions, selecting them on the basis of their peculiarity in applying the above mentioned principles. |
