Sukyo Mahikari es una "Nueva Religión" japonesa, mundialmente extendida. Este trabajo enfoca su práctica social y simbólica central: el Rito de Okiyome, un rito terapéutico de purificación espiritual mediante la imposición de la mano. Los objetivos son: 1. identificar las categorías ordenadoras de los códigos simbólicos; 2. establecer la construcción del espacio y la representación del cuerpo presentes en el rito y 3. relacionar el orden simbólico con la construcción de lo sagrado y la presencia divina. El análisis se basa en fuentes documentales y observación etnográfica. Se concluye que el rito construye la presencia divina mediante la semiotización del espacio y el cuerpo, expresando esta presencia como origen de la acción terapéutica que busca restablecer el orden simbólico. Mediante el rito de Okiyome, el grupo de practicantes comunica la fe en la divinidad y en su poder. |

Sukyo Mahikari is a Japanese 'New Religion", nowadays spread worldwide. This paper focus its main social and symbolic practice, Rite of Okiyome, a therapeutic rite based on irradiating divine light through the palm of the hand. The objectives are: 1. to identify the categories underlying its symbolic codes; 2. to review the construction of space and representation of body in the rite; 3. to relate the symbolic order with the construction of the sacred and of the divine presence. The analysis is based on documental and ethnographic research. It is concluded that this rite realizes the divine presence through the semiotization of space and body, expressing this presence as the origin of therapeutic action aiming both to reveal disorder and to restore order. With Okiyome, the group expresses its faith in God and its divine power. |
