Resum:	A través de un recorrido del melodrama Yo soy Betty la fea se identificaron algunos vínculos intertextuales para la construcción de esta obra. Por medio un análisis comparativo entre historias con un eje temático similar, se demuestran las estrategias de adaptación de la estructura de un argumento universal en la construcción del nuevo relato. A lo largo de la investigación destacan además de los elementos contextuales que permitieron la identificación del público con el relato, la verosimilitud en la transformación de los personajes y la coherencia en la estructura del melodrama.
Resum:	This article identifes some intertextual links in the construction of Yo soy Betty la fea / Ugly Betty as melodrama. Through a comparative analysis between stories with a similar thematic axis, this paper shows how some adaptation strategies of the structure of a universal plot are used in the construction of this new narrative. This presentation of the research findings also highlight the contextual elements that allowed for the audience's identifcation with the story, the verisimilitude in the transformation of the characters and the consistency in the structure of the melodrama.
