Abstract: Most epidemiological modelling is done at a national level, assuming that the whole country is homogeneous. However, most epidemiological models do not model space explicitly and populations are considered to be unstructured with homogenous interactions, which could be problematic for large territories where the interacition networks can differ greatly between regions. In this thesis, I focused on this spatial variability by applying a simple model at a scale smaller than the whole country - the Spanish provinces - and compared the spread dynamics in different locations.
