Clear writing and audiovisual content: training future professionals

Abstract: Clear writing has traditionally dealt with printed or digital written documents. However, a lot of information is currently shared in audiovisual and multimedia formats. These formats often include written texts such as text on screen or subtitles. In my presentation I will highlight the need to create audiovisual content that is easy to understand. To this end, I will focus on the results of the EASIT project (pagines. uab. cat/easit), an Erasmus + funded project that I have led for three years (September 2018-August 2021, reference code 2018-1-ES01-KA203-05275). The project has mapped the current practice and training of easy-to-understand language in Europe through a survey, has carried out focus groups and interviews to assess how easy-to-understand language could be transferred into the audiovisual world, and has identified the skills future professionals in the field will need. The project has also produced a wealth of open educational resources that can be integrated in many different educational environments, both at university and vocational level.
