Abstract:	En 1606 se publicó en Milán la Prattica manvale dell'artigleria del ingeniero español Luis Collado, militar que sirvió la mayor parte de su carrera militar en Italia. En sus prolegómenos, Bordoni y Locarni, editores de este importante tratado, son categóricos al afirmar la necesidad de su publicación y la dificultad de traducir dicha obra del español, lengua nativa del autor, al italiano. Precisamente, este estudio versa sobre las peculiares vicisitudes del proceso de traducción y edición de dicha obra, desmintiendo algunas de las afirmaciones de los susodichos editores y matizando otras. En este artículo se prueba más allá de toda duda razonable que el producto fue la publicación de una obra póstuma e incompleta, con todos los problemas que ello crea si, además, tuvo que llevarse a cabo un proceso de traducción anejo. Sin embargo, el resultado final de la traducción no fue tan costoso como los editores afirman.
Abstract:	In 1606, in Milan a Spanish engineer and officer Luis Collado, who served most of his military career in Italy, published his treatise entitled Prattica manvale dell'artigleria. In their preface to the book, the editors of this important treatise, Bordoni and Locarni, underlined the need for its publication and the difficulty of translating it from Spanish (the author's native language) into Italian. This study tackles the complex process of translating and editing the treatise, refuting some of the assertions of the aforementioned editors and clarifying others. The article proves beyond reasonable doubt that the result was the publication of a posthumous and incomplete work which in itself generated a large number of problems, not to mention the ones related to translation. Despite all that, however, the final result of the translation was not as costly as the publishers claim.
