El modo verbal y la modalidad

Abstract:	La adecuada articulación teórica entre modo y modalidad es, en lingüística, una necesidad reconocida. Para hacerla operativa, es necesario delimitar cada uno de los dos conceptos y definirlos claramente. Desde Salvá (1830), pasando por Lagerqvist (2009) hasta hoy en día, muchos son los autores que han aportado una definición de los modos verbales desde diferentes perspectivas lingüísticas. Luego, el lugar preponderante que ocupan los modos verbales en la expresión de la modalidad ha creado una confusión entre el modo y el campo semántico funcional de la modalidad. El propósito de este trabajo es describir el modo verbal y la modalidad y analizar la confusión que existe entre ambos conceptos.
Abstract:	The adequate theoretical articulation between mood and modality is, in linguistics, a recognized necessity. To make it operational, it is necessary to delimit each of the two concepts and define them clearly. From Salvá (1830), through Lagerqvist (2009) to the present day, many authors have provided a definition of verbal moods from different linguistic perspectives. Then, the preponderant place occupied by verbal moods in the expression of modality has created a confusion between the mood and the functional semantic field of modality. The purpose of this paper is to describe the verbal mood and modality and to analyze the confusion that exists between the two concepts.
