Abstract: CAR-T cell immunotherapy involves the administration of T cells which have been genetically modified to express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR). The CAR allows these T lymphocytes to attack tumor cells since it specifically recognizes tumor antigens. This therapy has raised high expectations due to its effectiveness in treating hematological malignancies. However, complex and expensive manufacturing processes, serious side effects and low efficacy in solid tumors have limited the use of CAR-T cell therapy.
