An Acoustic studies on the use of fillers in Spanish as a foreign language acquisition
Machuca Ayuso, María Jesús (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona)

Imprint: IntechOpen 2024
Abstract: L1 or the sound used by Spanish native speakers. The results show that when learners use the vowel categorized as /e/, no differences are observed in the acoustic characteristics with respect to native Spanish. However, when they pronounced vowels categorized as non /e/, the acoustic characteristics resembled those of their L1. In addition, learners with advanced proficiency were more likely to yield the correct production than those with intermediate proficiency.
