El Lector in fabula de Eco (1978) analiza la semiótica de Peirce y la proyecta so- bre algunos problemas de la semiótica textual. Eco reconstruye la teoría del "significado" de Peirce mediante una serie de "divagaciones interpretativas" sobre los Collected Papers. Según Eco, el objeto inmediato es el modo en que se enfoca el objeto dinámico, siendo este modo el ground o significado; además, ground, significado e interpretante son, de hecho, la misma cosa. En este artículo intento mostrar que ground, objeto inmediato e interpretante son en realidad conceptos distintos que emergen en momentos distintos del desarrollo es- piritual del autor, y que sirven para describir aspectos distintos del mecanismo de funcio- namiento del signo. Eco los pone al mismo nivel porque necesita una base teórica para su semiótica textual. Pero al hacerlo, las "divagaciones interpretativas" se manifiestan como usos y no como interpretaciones de Peirce. |

Eco's Lector in fabula (1978) discusses Peirce's theory of signs and projects it onto some problems of textual semiotics. Eco reconstructs Peirce's theory of "meaning" through a series of "interpretive wanderings" throughout the Collected Papers. According to Eco, the immediate object is the way in which the dynamic object is focused, this way being the ground or meaning; furthermore, ground, meaning and interpretant are in fact the same thing. In this article I try to show that ground, immediate object and interpretant are in fact distinct concepts that emerge at distinct moments in the author's spiritual development, and that serve to describe distinct aspects of the mechanism of the sign's functioning. Eco considers them on the same level because he needs a theoretical basis for his textual semiotics. But in doing so his "interpretive wanderings" reveal to be uses and not interpretations of Peirce. |
