(R,S)-methadone ((R,S)-MTD) is a racemic μ-opioid receptor (MOR) agonist comprised of (R)-MTD and (S)-MTD enantiomers used for the treatment of opioid use disorder (OUD) and pain. (R)-MTD is used as an OUD treatment, has high MOR potency, and is believed to mediate (R,S)-MTD's therapeutic efficacy. [...]

15 p, 13.8 MB A generic image retrieval method for date estimation of historical document collections / Molina Rodríguez, Adrià (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Ciències de la Computació) ; Gomez Bigorda, Lluis (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Ciències de la Computació) ; Ramos Terrades, Oriol (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Ciències de la Computació) ; Lladós, Josep (Centre de Visió per Computador (Bellaterra, Catalunya))
Date estimation of historical document images is a challenging problem, with several contributions in the literature that lack of the ability to generalize from one dataset to others. This paper presents a robust date estimation system based in a retrieval approach that generalizes well in front of heterogeneous collections. [...]

Improvements in genome sequencing and assembly are enabling high-quality reference genomes for all species. However, the assembly process is still laborious, computationally and technically demanding, lacks standards for reproducibility, and is not readily scalable. [...]

Departament d'Antropologia Social i Cultural)
The distribution of the number of acquaintances among members of a society is a relevant feature of its social structure. Furthermore, the number of acquaintances (or "degree") is used for estimating other societal features, such as the size of hard-to-count subpopulations or social cohesion. [...]

28 p, 211.8 KB Social Network Data Collection : Principles and Modalities / Adams, Jimi (University of Colorado Denver) ; Lubbers, Miranda J. (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona)
Relational questions require relational data and methods. That may seem like a truism that is unnecessary to make explicit, but the social and behavioral sciences are replete with relational theories (Borgatti and Halgin, 2011) and questions that have repeatedly been examined with data that make essentializing assumptions (Emirbayer, 1997); that is, relying on non-relational data.

In this paper we investigate a structured population model with distributed delay. Our model incorporates two different types of nonlinearities. Specifically we assume that individual growth and mortality are affected by scramble competition, while fertility is affected by contest competition. [...]

A test on quantum mechanics proposed long ago by Karl Popper is reconsidered with further detail and new insight. An ambiguity in the proposal, which turns out to be essential in order to make the test conclusive, is identified and taken into account for the first time. [...]

32 p, 1.1 MB Radiative corrections to the τ−→(P1P2)−ντ (P1,2=π,K) decays / Escribano, Rafel (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Física) ; Miranda Hernández, Jesús Alejandro (Institut de Física d'Altes Energies) ; Roig, Pablo (Instituto Politécnico Nacional. Centro de Investigación y de Estudios Avanzados. Departamento de Física)
The radiative corrections to the τ−→(P1P2)−ντ (P1,2=π,K) decays are calculated for the first time. The structure-dependent contributions are obtained using Resonance Chiral Theory. Our results, whose uncertainty is dominated by the model-independent corrections, enable precise tests of CKM unitarity, lepton flavor universality, and non-standard interactions.
