One of the widest spread musculoskeletal diseases concerns the joints and involves the lesion of articular cartilage, being the knee one of the most affected joints. Cartilage lesions can be divided on two different types: partial-thickness cartilage lesions (chondral lesions) which do not penetrate the underlying subchondral bone, and full-thickness cartilage lesions (osteochondral lesions) which penentrates the subchondral bone.
