In this work, we explore the recognition skills in graph theory of undergraduate students of the degree in Computer Science-Information Technology of the University of Seville. For this purpose, we design a questionnaire that we use as an instrument for data collection, which are subsequently analysed by means of an adaptation of the methodology of the calculation of the degrees of acquisition, giving rise to different profiles of recognition in graph theory. This paper proposes a 3D model based pose invariant face recognition method that can recognize a face of a large rotation angle from its single nearly frontal view. The proposed method achieves the goal by using an analytic-to-holistic approach and a novel algorithm for estimation of ear points. [...]

Biometrics identification methods proved to be very efficient, more natural and easy for users than traditional methods of human identification. In fact, only biometrics methods truly identify humans, not keys and cards they posses or passwords they should remember. [...]

Department of Electrical and Information Engineering) ; Pietikäinen, Matti (University of Oulu (Finlàndia). Department of Electrical and Information Engineering)
Recent psychological and neural studies indicate that when people talk their changing facial expressions and head movements provide a dynamic cue for recognition. Therefore, both fixed facial features and dynamic personal characteristics are used in the human visual system (HVS) to recognize faces. [...]

Deformable Models are extensively used as a Pattern Recognition technique. They are curves defined within an image domain that can be moved under the influence of internal and external forces. Some trade-offs of standard deformable models algorithms are the selection of image energy function (external force), the location of initial snake and the attraction of contour points to local energy minima when the snake is being deformed. In this paper we address the problem of multi frame video registration using the combination of an appearance-based technique and a parametric model of the transformations. This technique uses an image that is selected as reference frame, and therefore, estimates the transformation that occurred to each frame in the sequence respect to this absolute referenced one.
The work consists of applying and improving an OCR model to detect labels on cylindrical product barcodes, as well as recognizing and verifying the corresponding numbers. The recognition presents difficulties due to low resolution in the label region, illumination distortions, deformations caused by the cylindrical shape of the product and the possibility that the bars of the code interfere with the text, being detected as characters by the OCR model. The following project is a study of the potential of integrating a language model into a Sequence to Sequence-based Optical Music Recognition (OMR) system through various techniques. The goal is to improve the performance of the model on handwritten old music scores, whose interpretation is particularly error-prone due to their high degree of variability and distortion.
