Institut de Neurociències (INc)

En el año 2003 un grupo de biólogos moleculares, fisiólogos, neuropatólogos, histólogos, psicólogos, psicobiólogos y bioinformáticos que trabajan en la UAB creamos el INc con el objetivo estratégico de dejar atrás las disciplinas tradicionales, y abordar de manera multidisciplinaria y translacional cuestiones claves del cerebro en el siglo XXI como son la neurodegeneración, la neuroregeneración y las bases de la mente normal o trastornada. Nos interesa cómo funciona el cerebro normal, qué ocurre cuando enferma, y cómo se cura. Exploramos todos los niveles de la organización biológica desde la interacción de moléculas al comportamiento usando para ello cultivos celulares, modelos animales y pacientes. Nuestro objetivo final es desarrollar nuevas terapias celulares, moleculares, genéticas para el tratamiento de patologías cerebrales.
